Hillfields stall at Peopleton Spring Animal Charities Fair, nr Pershore, Worcs 18-04-09
It was a beautiful sunny spring day as I loaded my car up in Stourbridge to head off to the fair down in the Worcestershire countryside. The lovely weather continued all day and it was a very pretty ride around the blossom filled lanes & villages to find the hall. The good weather must have encouraged attendance, as the 2 rooms were full of visitors for most of the 2 hours the fair was open.
About 20 other animal charities were represented there, our Hillfields stall was sandwiched between some rescued tortoises and a one-eyed rescued guinea pig in a large cage who seemed very happy to be fussed over by visitors.
We had a very successful time, raising 246 from selling vegan cakes, chocolate tiffin, nut roasts and the ever-popular tombola and including some generous donations.
A big thank you to Julie & Linda who came to help on the stall, also to Janet, John, Sandra, Tony & Graham who all made a special journey to come and show their support for the sanctuary.
Thanks also due to the staff of Worcester Holland & Barrett for donating some items to the tombola.
Apart from the pleasing sum raised, it was nice to spend the afternoon in the company of like- minded compassionate people, all doing their bit to help animals in various ways. The event was very efficiently organised (by Canine Friends) and well attended and I will certainly put our name down next year for a stall. Linda Newman.
